Maharashtra has signed a Letter of Intent with Starlink, becoming the first Indian state to formally partner with the SpaceX subsidiary for satellite-based internet services. The deployment will focus on remote districts, supporting government institutions and critical infrastructure that remain difficult to serve through fibre networks. The initiative aligns with the state’s digital inclusion push and India’s wider efforts to bridge connectivity gaps in underserved regions.
