The government has removed import duties of 7.5% and 5% on selected components used in mobile phones and other electronic products, benefiting firms such as Apple and Xiaomi. The exemption, valid until 31 March 2029, covers wireless charging parts, displays and lithium-ion cells. The move is expected to improve competitiveness, encourage local manufacturing and battery production, and support India’s electronics growth ambitions.
