WhatsApp is introducing usernames, allowing users to chat without sharing their phone numbers. Once available, you will be able to choose a unique username from the Settings menu and share it instead of your mobile number. Usernames are optional and can be changed later without affecting your chats. WhatsApp has started testing the feature with some Android and iPhone users. A broader rollout is expected later in 2026, giving users more control over how others can find and contact them.
