WhatsApp launched the AI-generated backgrounds for video calls in 2025. The feature allows users to create and apply a theme-based or custom-made image for video calls, which helps in hiding the user's environment to offer privacy. It comes in handy when you have to attend an official meeting, but you are in an unprofessional environment. The feature is available in select regions, including India, on both WhatsApp for Android and iOS. You have to start the video call and open your camera to generate and apply a new background.
