An Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID, which is also referred to as “One Nation, One Student ID”, was launched by the Ministry of Education in 2023. By February 2024, about 25 crore students had registered to receive their APAAR IDs, the government stated in a press release. The APAAR ID was introduced with the aim of creating a unified repository for students, where all their academic credentials, certificates, and achievements could be recorded. It comes in handy when you have to apply to an institution of higher education. It is accessible via DigiLocker.
